Trimethylxanthine
The two changes my doctor recommended after my near death stint in the hospital was reduce my sodium intake and start cutting down on caffeine. Its shocking how much better one feels when they start avoiding coffee in the mornings. I had a small cherry coke with lunch which has been just enough to stave off a caffeine withdrawl headache. I think I may be done with my 3 cup a morning habit.

Yeah- wean yourself off the caffeine gently if you can. Caffeine withdrawl is a BITCH. x_x Ughhh... so bad. Drinking more water is a good habit in general, but it really helps flush your system and it can keep the headaches away too.
I recommend replacing the morning coffee with orange juice- if you can drink that. I forget what you're allergic to. If you can, get the low acid kind. I find that things too acidic/strong in the morning just wreck my stomach.

See, I go both ways. :P If I already feel fine, and I drink coffee out of habit, it makes me feel worse.

If I'm tired and groggy, it makes me feel better! :D Course, I can't shake my morning mug, regardless. It's whether I have any ~after~ that which seems to make the difference.

I did the whole "Cut out soda" thing awhile back. I didn't realize how much caffeine I was drinking until I did that. Now, I have one large flavored coffee from McDonalds in the morning, and that's my only caffeine for the day - I've found I'm sleeping better, I'm getting up easier, and just generally feeling better.

Good luck on this new lifestyle!

Well I'm not cutting out caffeine, I'm just not drinking the huge ammounts of coffee anymore. Aparently coffee has nearly 3 times as much per serving as pop. I figure a coke here and there won't hurt me any, but the equivalant 9 every morning was bad for me.

Well, at least you didn't have the sugar content as well - unless you drink coffee like me. I can remember when my mom drank a pot of coffee a day - then she gave it up for Lent. It was a BAD year in my house that 40 days.
